The painting depicts duality as a primal and inevitable force. The title is simple and fundamental. The painting illustrates not division, but rather the union of opposites. This is not the peaceful balance of yin and yang, but a violent, carnal, almost erotic, and even painful symbiosis. Duality here is not a problem to be solved, but a creative force. What appears to be opposites is in reality the same, only seen from two sides.
